KYA attends ​conference

Twenty-five CCMS students ​attended the Kentucky Youth ​Assembly (KYA) in November. ​CCMS 8th grader Silvia Longino ​ran for presiding officer, students ​debated bills in the capitol, and ​they learned about Kentucky ​government. Longino was elected ​the KYA President of the Senate. ​Madison Cleary and Tyra ​Sengkhamyong are sponsors.

Drama Club will perform Into ​the Woods

This year, Drama Club will be performing the musical Into The Woods. Rehearsals and ​meetings are held every Monday. Auditions were held on October 23, and the cast has been ​announced.

The music director is Mrs. Elise Brown, the stage director is Mrs. Holly de Robles, and the ​crew behind the scenes are Lily Haley, Harper Coffman, Emilee Maupin, Sabreil Leonard, ​Samara Keys, Ray Lee, and Ivory Richardson.

Cheerleaders help each other reach goals

This season the CCMS cheer team has a total of 25 girls and is competing in a two-​and-a-half minute routine this year.

Cheer has a longer season than some other sports and goes from May to late January. ​They will usually compete in 2-3 competitions each year and cheer for girls' basketball, ​boys' basketball, and football.

The coaches are head coach Alyssa Bastin and assistant coach Haley Abston.

Every single girl on the team cares about one another. They all have goals to reach, and ​everyone tries their best to help each other reach those goals. Eighth-grader Linnie Hoskins ​said, “A goal I have is to get my standing tuck.” They all care about each other. Seventh ​grader Kaylee Curry said, “My favorite part of cheer is friends.”

They are all one big family.

8th grader Shelby Keys said, ​“My favorite part of cheer is ​stunting and a goal I have is ​to get my backhandspring.”

8th grader Linnie Hoskins ​said, “My favorite part is ​stunting and a goal I have is ​to get my standing tuck.”


6th grader Layla Coffman ​said, “ My favorite part is ​stunting, and I want more ​tumbling.”

6th Grader Mia Castellana ​said “ My favorite part is ​stunting and I want to get a ​back handspring.”


7th grader Emily Miller said, ​“My favorite part of cheer is ​tumbling, and I really want ​to get my standing tuck.”

Volleyball team holds tryouts
