Cheerleaders help each other reach goals
by Laney Sears and Bella DeHart, photo by Kylie Dingess
This season the CCMS cheer team has a total of 25 girls and is competing in a two-and-a-half minute routine this year.
Cheer has a longer season than some other sports and goes from May to late January. They will usually compete in 2-3 competitions each year and cheer for girls' basketball, boys' basketball, and football.
The coaches are head coach Alyssa Bastin and assistant coach Haley Abston.
Every single girl on the team cares about one another. They all have goals to reach, and everyone tries their best to help each other reach those goals. Eighth-grader Linnie Hoskins said, “A goal I have is to get my standing tuck.” They all care about each other. Seventh grader Kaylee Curry said, “My favorite part of cheer is friends.”
They are all one big family.
8th grader Shelby Keys said, “My favorite part of cheer is stunting and a goal I have is to get my backhandspring.”
